Bobby Welborn, Chief of Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Police, has over 30 years of law enforcement experience. Most recently, prior to accepting the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Police Chief position, he spent five years with Greenville Technical College. Bobby began at serving at GTC as Interim Chief in 2006.
Bobby also held the position of Chief at USC Upstate Police Department from 2004-2006. During each term as Chief, Bobby has promoted community policing and made concerted efforts to build and maintain solid relationships with other law enforcement agencies as well as other departments within his employing agency.
The bulk of Bobby’s police experience comes from his 24 years with the City of Spartanburg. He held many roles during his time with the City of Spartanburg. From beginning his career in patrol to traffic and narcotics as he climbed the ranks to Lieutenant and finally Captain, Bobby has a wide and extensive knowledge of running a police department as well as working the streets.
Along with his policing experience Bobby studied his craft and achieved degrees in Criminal Justice and Public Administration. He holds a Masters from Clemson and University of South Carolina in Public Administration, graduated from the FBI National Academy, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at USC Spartanburg, and an Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice at Spartanburg Methodist College.
Outside of law enforcement, Bobby is also a devoted husband and father. He serves as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Spartanburg and serves as a member of the Board of Commissioners in the Converse Area Fire District.
Angela and Dwayne Morris participated in the Myrtle Beach Half Marathon on February 18, 2012.
Angela decided Friday (the day before the run) that she was going to run the Half-Marathon (13.1 miles).
Keep in mind that 1) she had not ran more than 2 miles in her entire life and 2) she had not trained one bit.
The photo was taken at the half-way mark…
WOW Congratulations to both Dwayne and Angela Morris, parents of SCA students Taylor, Logan and Avery, all runners.
