Tyler Traynham Signs with Limestone College

Limestone College helped Spartanburg Christian Academy wide receiver Tyler Traynham make history Wednesday.

Traynham became the first SCA player to sign with a college program when he agreed to join the Saints. SCA just completed its second season of varsity football. The Warriors finished 2-8.

Traynham led the team with eight touchdown catches. He said he is looking forward to continuing his career with the Saints.

“When I went on the visit last week I felt welcomed,” Traynham said. “I felt the players there encouraged me to go there. It was the right place at the right time. It's just a good fit.”

Traynham plans on majoring in education with a minor in strength and conditioning. He said being the first at SCA to sign a college scholarship is exciting.

“It's great to have that feeling,” he said. “I try to be humble with it, but it's a great feeling to know I'm the first. With the talent coming through there, I won't be the last.”

Traynham was one of more than 50 players who signed with Limestone, which is preparing for its second season. The Saints finished 2-9 in their first season.

The 2015 signing class includes Broome linebacker Bavueir Jackson.

Limestone also added a couple of former Gaffney High players who began their college careers elsewhere. Defensive lineman Jaylen Miller transferred to Limestone from Tennessee, while quarterback Joey Copeland transferred from South Carolina State.

Congratulations Tyler!
