Congratulations to Tucker Meyers for being named a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist! The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students for their exceptional scholastic potential. About 1.5 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2010 PSAT/NMSQT, which served as an initial screening of program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, included the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.
There are approximately 16,000 semifinalists in this year’s program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to progress in the competition and possibly earn one of the 8,300 National Merit Scholarships available. The National Merit Scholarships, with a total worth more than $34 million dollars, will be offered next spring. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. Please pray for Tucker as he moves forward in the Finalist competition. This is certainly a well-earned honor for Tucker and SCA! Great job Tucker!
Congratulations to Tucker Meyers
