2011 SCISA Tennis State Champions

Spartanburg Christian Academy captured the SCISA 2A boys tennis state championship over the weekend. It marked the first boys tennis title in school history. The Warriors won a three-team, round-robin tournament against defending champion Beaufort Academy and state runner-up Trinity Collegiate at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter. SCA downed Trinity 4-2 and Beaufort 5-1 in the decisive match. David Bolton, Matt Howell, Mitchell Lewis, Bryce Staggs and Austin Turner each picked up singles wins against Beaufort. “My guys really stepped up a lot,” SCA coach Zach Williams said. “We only played public schools all year long and our only win was against Chapman. But, playing those schools helped us this weekend."
