VETERAN'S DAY FLYER

Spartanburg Christian Academy invites the community to attend our annual Veteran’s Day program on Friday, November 8, 2013, at 1:00 pm in the First North sanctuary. The program is to honor Veterans and active duty citizens (military, firemen, policemen).   The SCA Chorus, band, and elementary students will perform a special tribute to celebrate America.  Congressman Trey Gowdy will be our guest speaker.  
We ask Veterans and active duty citizens  who will be in attendance to  contact the school office @ 578-4238 with service information (branch of service) so that we may recognize your service to our country and community.  We hope your family will be a part of this special event.

In addition to honoring Veterans at the Veterans Day Program, SCA students will be collecting items to send to currently serving military personnel.  The Spartanburg Chapter 124 of Blue Star Mothers will ship all items collected to reach our service men and women in time for Christmas.  Students may bring the following items for the Military Care Packages:
Small size plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioners, lotions, toothpaste
Pain relievers (aspirin, Aleve, Tylenol, etc)
Sun block, Blistex, Chapstick
Baby wipes, disposable pre-packaged sanitizing wipes
Small size deodorant, medicated foot powder, disposable razors, nail clippers
Odor eaters for boots, white cotton socks
Batteries size AA, single use disposable cameras
Playing cards, puzzle books, paperback books, magazines (don’t have to be new)
Gum (blister packs), lifesavers, mints, hard candy, protein bars, granola bars, jelly beans
Beef jerky, Slim Jims, nuts, peanuts, pretzels, peanut butter crackers (individual servings)
Candy canes, single serve holiday coffee & creamer or flavored drink packs (added to water)
Handmade ornaments, Christmas CD’s, Christmas DVD movies
Small blank journals, blank greeting cards, stamped blank envelopes
Sewing kits, zip lock bags (for storing, watertight), air fresheners
Hand Warmers, icy hot patches, stress relief squeeze balls
Personal favorites are cards and letters of support and prayers for safety

Do NOT send items that need to be brought back home. Personal size items are necessary due to shipping space limitations. Monetary donations to help cover shipping costs are also accepted.
